Mentor

My name is Clemon Byrd, I am a 1995 graduate of Auburn High School, a 2000 graduate of Faulkner University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. I am also a graduate of the Alabama Military Academy where I was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Alabama Army National Guard. I am a former police sergeant of the Auburn Police Division in Auburn Alabama and a former Auburn City Councilman. I now serve in the Alabama Army National Guard as a major and have completed tours in Afghanistan and Kuwait. I also currently serve an investigator with Perspecta, a company that is responsible for conducting national background investigations for government employees.

My wife Alison and I have one son, Clemon E. Byrd Jr. (CJ) who is the light of our lives. My hobbies are listening to all kinds of music and playing the saxophone with my band, Satin Soul.

God has blessed me to have several mentors in my life, which have all had a hand in me being the man I am today. My mentors are my mother Elizabeth Barnett, Bobby Welch, Reuben Redd, Kevin Harrison, Walter Daniel, Jessie Williams, Desmond Scaife, James Tatum, Tommy Dawson. I could name so many more. They have all been very helpful to me in making the right decisions in life and leading me in the right direction. I am thankful to all of these individuals for the support they have given me.

I am very excited to be a part of this movement. I was honored when asked to participate in Advancing Adolescents Auburn. I believe we will do great things. I truly believe in the importance of mentoring our youth to be great people in our community and to one day become mentors themselves.
